The Red Jacket Jamboree is a NEW old-time radio variety show sharing stories, songs and history from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula (Copper Country) Hosted by Lena Dorey, the show is performed/recorded in front of a live audience at the historic Calumet Theatre in downtown Calumet, Michigan Join us for the recording of two great episodes with guests: singer/songwriter John Davey, Storyteller, Jenifer Strauss and author Bill Sproule! We'll be celebrating two favorite winter sports- Hockey and Skiing and then “Keweenaw in the Spring” Hosted by Lena Dorey, The Red Jacket Jamboree includes comedic sketches by the Red Jacket Actors (Marty Achatz, Ralph Horvath) and music by the Copper Cats, with Jerry Younce on Guitar, Bill Carrothers on Piano, Harry South on Bass and Carrie Biolo on percussion. It's an entertaining and educational show for the entire family! An audience favorite, John Davey returns in 2019 to the Red Jacket Jamboree! From Indiana’s Wabash River Valley to Music City, Nashville, Tennessee to the wilds of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, John Davey has been on the move during the last couple of years. The words and melodies of Middle-America follow this singer-songwriter everywhere. As a professional storyteller, Jenifer Strauss uses stories to enrich lives. Her engaging and enthusiastic style has endured her with audiences across the state. Jenifer's well-loved Great Lakes repertoire includes: lumber era legends, mining stories, shipwreck and lighthouse tales, mysteries, and ghost stories. Her stories are both heart-warming and educational. Bill Sproule is a Professor Emeritus, Michigan Tech University where he taught in transportation engineering, public transit, airport planning, and hockey history. He is the author of "Copper Country Streetcars" and soon to-be-released "Houghton - The Birthplace of Professional Hockey."
