10:15 a.m. Children's Storytime at Portage Lake District Library, 58 Huron St., Houghton. French-Canadian stories and crafts.
7:00-8:00 p.m. French-Canadian Folk Songs and Fiddling at the Chassell Heritage Center, 42373 Hancock Ave., Chassell (from US41 in downtown Chassell, turn west on 2nd St.) Traditional folk and response songs by Maple Sugar Folk with Laura Shilling on fiddle. Free addmission - donations appreciated. The building opens at 6 p.m., so come early to enjoy the exhibits!
September 27th (Thursday)
10:15 a.m. Children's Storytime at the Portage Lake District Library

6:00-10:00 p.m. Contra Dance at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 435 Quincy St., Hancock. Gathering begins at 6 with snacks for folks coming straight from work. Teaching at 6:30 for new dancers. 7 to 10, lively music of the Finlandia Busking Society for the CONTRA DANCE! Giner Alberti teaches and reviews each dance. Pot-luck snacks at the break...so if you have time, bring something to share. Everyone welcome! $5 admission.
September 29 (Saturday)
11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. Music at Lake Linden Farmers Market, Lake Linden Park, M-26, Lake Linden. French-Canadian songs by Maple Sugar Folk and fiddling by Laura Shilling. Bring a blanket and enjoy the goods and the music. The market is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
