The Red Jacket Jamboree, Old-Time Radio Variety Show to Feature Younce Guitar Duo
Younce Guitar Duo will be the featured guest at The Red Jacket Jamboree on Saturday, July 28th. The old-time radio variety show presents stories, music and songs reflecting the history, landscape and culture of Michigan's Copper Country. The show is recorded in front of a live audience at the historic Calumet Theatre for radio broadcast at a later date. Two hour long radio episodes are recorded per show with each episode having its own theme.
Every episode of The Red Jacket Jamboree includes humorous original sketches performed by the Red Jacket Radio Actors and music by the Copper Cats, consisting of Bill Carrothers on piano, Jerry Younce on guitar, Carrie Biolo on vibraphone and percussion, and Harry South on bass. The show is hosted by Lena Dorey who shares the stage with an array of guests including regular appearances by Marty Achatz, the 2018 Poet Laureate of the U.P..
The Saturday, July 28th performance will include the musical stylings of Younce Guitar Duo, a unique father son collaboration that has been entertaining audiences since 2009 with their exquisite original compositions and superb musicianship. Younce Guitar Duo creates intricate, flowing & rhythmic sonic weavings inspired by Latin, Jazz and World Music. Get ready to be taken on a musical journey that is both moving and exhilarating!
