Topic: Why is Online Presence so Important for Small-Town Business Owners?

What will be covered: In this hands-on Lunch & Learn, we’ll be discussing why and how you should take control of your businesses online presence beyond Facebook. Jean will begin by giving a brief overview of why business owners in the UP benefit from having a sustained presence on sites like Yelp and TripAdvisor. Following, volunteers will be on hand to help you start to take control of your business profiles on Google, Yelp, and TripAdvisor. We request that participants bring a laptop or tablet for the hands-on portion of the workshop.

About our presenter: Jean Hardy is a researcher at the University of Michigan School of Information. His work investigates how social media has become a tool for rural community and economic development.
