Houghton County Sheriff Josh Saaranen will talk about illegal drugs and local drug enforcement at a public forum on Zoom at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, October 9, sponsored by the Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Find out what drugs are brought into our area; which ones are produced locally, such as meth; whom dealers target; how law enforcement finds out about illegal drugs; what constitutes a drug bust; legal consequences for dealers and users, and trends in drug usage. How realistic is what people see in movies and crime shows, compared to real life drug crime? What should citizens do if they suspect there is drug use in their neighborhood?
